Donald Lang AIA

Founder and Principal of Donald Lang Architects, Inc.
A collaboration with Shawmut Construction resulted in a design/construction relationship spanning many years. When soaring interest rates halted residential building in the 80s, Donald Lang became involved in food service projects, most notably with the roll-out of 12 Steve’s Ice Cream emporiums, and regionally with eight Bertucci’s brick oven pizzerias. Don’s combination of fine arts and construction background bring fresh solutions to the food industry’s inherent design dilemmas.

Founder and President of RENOVATE, INC.
Licensed builder of public and private sector residential and commercial projects. Preferred contractor of record for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, and Cambridge, Brookline and Newton Community Development Departments in the 70s and 80s, providing solutions to complicated, distressed or ultra high quality HUD financed rehabilitations. Instrumental in the gentrification of Cambridge, MA as a developer of 60 luxury condos and town- houses. Other clients included WHDH-TV and numerous retailers. For 12 years, Renovate, Inc. and DLA overlapped, providing property analysis services for US Dept. of HUD, private lending institutions, real estate brokers, developers, and property owners. During that period, Renovate, Inc. evolved from a traditional construction company with 40 employees to one comprising 100% subcontractors.
